- Introduction — “Nada” Means Sound
In the Himalayan tradition, Nada is the primordial sound — the vibration from which everything is said to arise. Nada Yoga is the practice of using that vibration to return the body to stillness.
We take this ancient practice outside, where it belongs. Instead of a closed studio, your session unfolds in the open air of the Kathmandu Valley, with the hills of Champadevi as the backdrop and nothing between you and the resonance but sky.
This is not a performance. It is a guided, therapeutic day: you arrive carrying whatever the week gave you, and you leave lighter.

- Inside the 1-Hour Sound Healing Session
Experience the ancient therapeutic power of Himalayan sound healing — where resonant vibrations from Tibetan singing bowls and gongs guide you into deep relaxation, slow brainwave activity, and restore energetic balance.
First 15 Minutes — Preparation
- Short briefing on sound — what you are about to hear, and why it works
- Nada Yoga — an introduction to energy, vibration, and frequency
- Soft yoga & breathing exercises — releasing physical tension before stillness
- Yoga Nidra — guided conscious relaxation to settle the mind
Next 45 Minutes — Sound Immersion
You lie down, covered and comfortable, while the instruments are played around and above you:
- Tibetan Singing Bowls — sustained tones felt in the body as much as heard
- Gongs — broad, enveloping waves that dissolve mental chatter
- Tingsha — bright, clear chimes that mark and clear the space
- Bajra Bells — traditional bells used to focus and seal the session
Closing
- Feedback & counseling — a personal conversation about what you experienced and how to carry it forward
- Certificate distribution — a keepsake of your session in the Himalayas
- What People Come Here For
Deep Relaxation
Sustained tone slows the breath and quiets the thinking mind, guiding you toward the restorative states usually reached only in deep sleep.
Stress & Tension Release
Vibration reaches the places stretching cannot. Many guests describe the shoulders, jaw, and chest simply letting go.
Better Sleep
Guests routinely report the best night’s sleep of their trip after a session.
Emotional Reset
Sound moves what words cannot. Space is held for whatever surfaces, and the closing counseling helps you make sense of it.
Energetic Balance
The traditional aim of Nada Yoga: bringing scattered energy back into alignment.
A Real Connection to Nepal
Authentic instruments, local practitioners, home-cooked food, and the hills themselves — not a tourist re-creation.
- Why Outdoors?
Indoors, sound bounces. Outdoors, it travels.
In the open air, the tone of a gong opens out instead of pressing back at you, and the natural soundscape — wind, birds, distant water — becomes part of the session rather than an interruption. Combined with sunlight, altitude, and movement, the effect is noticeably deeper than the same session held in a room.
- What to Bring
- Comfortable, loose clothing you can move and lie down in
- Swimwear and a towel
- Walking shoes for the hike
- Sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses
- A refillable water bottle
- An open mind — no experience with meditation required
We provide all instruments, mats, blankets, and guidance.
- Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any experience with meditation or yoga?
None. The session is fully guided and beginners are the majority of our guests. All you need to do is lie down and listen.
Is the hike difficult?
No. The Champadevi walk is a short, gentle trail suitable for anyone with normal mobility. We set the pace by the group, not the clock.
Is the swimming safe for non-swimmers?
Yes. Swimming is optional and supervised, and you are welcome to simply relax nearby.
What if it rains?
We monitor conditions and shift to a sheltered location or reschedule your session at no cost. Your experience is never rushed through bad weather.
Can I join alone?
Absolutely. Solo guests are common, and groups stay small and comfortable.
Is this suitable for children or older guests?
Yes, with prior notice so we can adjust pacing and the itinerary. Please tell us about pregnancy, recent surgery, epilepsy, pacemakers, or serious hearing conditions when booking.
Are dietary requirements accommodated?
Yes. Vegetarian, vegan, and allergy-safe Nepali lunches are available on request.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend at least 48 hours to arrange transport and your practitioner.
Is sound healing a medical treatment?
No. It is a complementary wellness practice for relaxation and wellbeing, and it does not replace medical care or prescribed treatment.
- About The Himalayan Nada
We are a small Nepal-based team of sound practitioners, guides, and hosts who believe healing should feel human, not clinical.
Our instruments are traditional. Our practitioners are trained in Nada Yoga and Himalayan sound therapy. Our groups stay intentionally small so that every guest receives real attention — a personal conversation at the end of the session, not a wave goodbye.
We do one thing, and we do it with care.
